National Safety Month: Employee Engagement
NAHB is joining with official safety sponsor Builders Mutual to highlight jobsite safety resources during National Safety Month, an annual observance from the National Safety Council.
Week 2 sees a focus on employee engagement.
After you have established a solid written safety plan for your jobsites, it’s now time to engage employs and create a true culture of safety in your company. NAHB’s video toolbox talks are the perfect resource to use to engage employees on safety topics.

These videos, running between five and eight minutes, touch on a wide range of safety topics. If fact, if you held a safety stand down every two weeks, there would be plenty for a whole year. They are all available in English and Spanish.
Use the videos as a jumping-off point for brief morning safety stand downs. It’s a good way to remind employees and subcontractors of your expectations on the jobsite and the proper use of tools and equipment.
Builders Mutual also has some tips on how to make safety stand downs more engaging and effective.
Engaging employees on a consistent basis is the only way to create a culture of jobsite safety. Once they have bought in and fully engaged in the safety plan, the culture perpetuates itself as new team members come on board.
