Develop and Strengthen Your Safety Plan During OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week
Join NAHB and OSHA in celebrating Safe + Sound Week, Aug. 12-18, to recognize the successes of workplace health and safety programs and share information and ideas on how to keep workers safe.
This year’s campaign will focus on Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) as the leading topic, and OSHA has provided several resources on developing and strengthening your business’ JHA procedures. NAHB members and non-members can also take advantage of all of NAHB’s health and safety resources before, during and after the campaign.
The Safety Program Toolkit is designed for small- to medium-sized home builders and general contractors to use as a model for their own safety programs. The NAHB model safety program contains the materials needed to effortlessly set up a successful, company-wide safety program, including company and employee documentation and notices that can be posted on the jobsite. It can be customized to reflect the particular circumstances of each project. NAHB has also developed program toolkits for remodelers and siding contractors.
Other NAHB resources to strengthen safety best practices for residential construction jobsites include:
- The Jobsite Safety Handbook mobile app
- NAHB’s Safety Video Toolbox Talks
- More than a dozen Safety Toolkits
NAHB also recently announced a pilot partnership with MANUAL, a men’s health and wellness company that provides self-paced programming tailored for young men. More information on the partnership can be found on the NAHB website.
Participating in Safe + Sound Week is an excellent opportunity to promote your company’s workplace safety practices and show the industry the strength of your safety culture. Successful safety and health programs can proactively identify and manage workplace hazards before they cause injury or illness, improving sustainability and the bottom line. Participating in Safe + Sound Week can help get your program started, energize an existing one, or provide a chance to recognize your safety successes.
Register for this year’s Safe + Sound Week on the OSHA website and use the hashtags #SafeAndSoundAtWork and #Safety365 to promote your workplace safety and health successes.
