The power of the home building industry lies in its grassroots advocacy efforts. To help members engage in advocacy across various levels of government, NAHB has put together a number of programs for the upcoming Spring Leadership Meeting that will prepare attendees to lobby members of Congress to protect their businesses and industry, engage with administration officials and better understand the evolving regulatory landscape.

June 9 – Preparing for Hill Visits

Ask the Lobbyists: Preparing for Hill Visits

This practical, insider-led session is designed to set members and HBA staff up for success on Capitol Hill during the Legislative Conference. 

NAHB’s lobbying team will walk through key policy priorities, messaging tips, and what to expect in meetings. The session will conclude with regional breakouts for an opportunity to align key messages for Hill visits.

This session will feature remarks from House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.).

June 10 – Legislative Conference

More than 1,000 NAHB members and HBA staff are expected to visit Capitol Hill to ensure that housing issues remain a priority with federal lawmakers. NAHB will kick off the day with a briefing, followed by visits to the Hill and a closing reception at the Grand Hyatt Washington.

Hear from the Hill: Legislative Conference Briefing

NAHB will bring the following Congressional leaders to share their insights on the legislative agenda for the 119th Congress:

  • House Financial Services Chairman French Hill (R-Ark.)
  • Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso (R-Wyo.)
  • Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-Texas)
  • Rep. Nick Langworthy (R-N.Y.)

Following the morning briefing, members will visit lawmakers throughout the day and urge them to support solutions to lower housing costs.

Shuttles will depart from the Grand Hyatt Washington beginning at 7:30 a.m. and drop off attendees at Garfield Circle. Shuttles will pick up attendees at Peace Circle, with the last shuttle departing at 5 p.m.

June 11 – Regulatory Insights

Following a day on Capitol Hill, NAHB will offer two sessions to allow members to engage directly with key Trump administration officials on top issues in the housing industry.

Regulatory Agency Breakout Sessions

Members can engage in interactive sessions focused on NAHB’s most critical advocacy issues, with the opportunity to gain insights and ask questions.

  • Session 1: Immigration. This session will focus on the current worksite enforcement policies and protocols for immigration.
    • Speaker: A representative of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations.
  • Session 2: Water Issues. This session will explore issues related to the Clean Water Act’s (CWA) National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) construction general permit, and “waters of the United States” (WOTUS).
    • Speakers:
      • Jessica Kramer, Assistant Administrator Office of Water, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
      • Milton Boyd, Director Policy & Legislation, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Advocacy General Session

Members will hear directly from key Trump administration officials as they discuss NAHB’s top policy priorities and the latest developments impacting the housing industry.

  • Director William J. Pulte, Federal Housing Finance Agency
  • Administrator Kelly Loeffler, Small Business Administration
