The NAHB Building Systems Councils has awarded the S.A. Walters Award for Lifetime Achievement in Systems Built Housing to Laura Dwyer, recognizing her decades of leadership, innovation, and service to the home building industry.

Named after the man who became the first chairman of what is known today as the Building Systems Councils (BSC), the S.A. Walters Award is the highest honor the councils bestow. The award recognizes a lifetime of achievement in systems-built housing.

Dwyer has spent her career driving innovation, sustainability, and best practices across the home building industry. She currently serves as Business Development Leader for DuPont Performance Building Solutions, a Fortune 500 supplier to the residential construction industry. She also leads the DuPont Building Knowledge Center, a global hub that provides builders with education, insights and tools needed to improve performance and durability in the homes they build.

Beyond her professional work, Dwyer has played a significant leadership role within NAHB and the Building Systems Councils. She has served as Chairman of the Leading Suppliers Council, Chairman of the Building Systems Councils, and Chairman of the Home Builders Institute. She has also contributed to the Construction, Codes & Standards Committee and represented NAHB on the IECC Commercial Energy Code Committee.

Dwyer continues to support the next generation of industry leaders as a member of the Professional Women in Building Board of Trustees, and has been elected to serve as a National Associate Chairman. She is widely recognized as a champion for mentorship, workforce development, and expanding opportunities across the housing industry.

Her influence extends beyond NAHB through advisory roles with organizations such as the Housing Innovation Alliance and the Wells Fargo Innovation Incubator.

Throughout her career, Dwyer has been a strong advocate for offsite construction, high-performance building practices, and workforce development, all critical components in an industry working to address housing affordability and deliver durable, sustainable homes at scale.
