How Are Rising Costs Impacting the Cost of Single-Family Homes?

The housing industry is experiencing elevated costs across the board — from land to labor and building materials. NAHB’s Economics team is in the process of measuring how these rising costs impact the cost to build single-family homes. And we need your help.

NAHB is seeking data from single-family builders to produce benchmarks for costs related to constructing a typical single-family home. Specifically, the Economics team is requesting data on costs across seven major stages of home construction, including:

• Site Work
• Foundations
• Framing
• Exterior Finishes
• Major System Rough-Ins (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC)
• Interior Finishes
• Final Steps (e.g., landscaping, decks/patios, etc.)

This information will remain completely confidential, and only NAHB’s small research team will see the data.

Industry averages will be published in the next edition of the Cost of Constructing a Home report. See a summary of past results.
