This is a single-family home/weekend retreat with 2,370 square feet of conditioned space. The project includes a converted grain silo reimagined into a three-story living space, complete with art galley, bedroom and studio. The design also includes a ‘green roof’ deck that looks to the West for incredible views and sunsets. The home is equipped with a traditional ducted system with zone dampers for the house and silo, and features structural insulated panels (SIPS) in the walls and roof. The client was very excited about the energy efficiency of SIPs and the other benefits that could be realized. The site was a bit remote, so the time saved on framing was a big benefit.
