This 18-unit residential duplex complex designed with high performance requirements and a zero-energy mandate as requirements for this project. Additional restrictions were dictated by the Wildlands-Urban Interface Code which is in force in this area. Structural insulated panels (SIPs) provide superior insulation and air-sealing eliminating the need to ventilate the attic to follow the Wildland-Urban Interface Code. Construction time was also a factor, as site labor is increasingly in short supply.
