Legacy House is a 2,466-square-foot single-family home designed by F5 Design/Architects and built by GreenTech Construction using MM&I Construction Renegade Panels manufactured by Insulspan. The home owners wanted a builder who used structural insulated panels (SIPs) and focused on green building. The walls comprise SIP 6- and 8-inch panels and roof comprise 12-inch SIP panels. The RTA (Ready to Assemble) package sped the construction process and whatever small increase in the cost was overcome when considering the savings in utility bills and comfort levels the owners would enjoy. The home is certified by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as a Zero Energy Ready Home. It's also certified under the EPA WaterSense for New Homes Program.
