The Careers in Construction Month Toolkit features customizable content for HBAs and members to share with their community throughout October.

Every October, NAHB and the residential construction industry celebrate Careers in Construction Month, a time to raise awareness of the rewarding opportunities available in the skilled trades.

HBAs and members can promote the month in their community through NAHB's Careers in Construction Month Toolkit, which features ready-to-use social media resources, lesson plans and build guides. The toolkit also includes weekly sample activities to spotlight the opportunities in the skilled trades.

Careers in Construction Month Toolkit

The Careers in Construction Month Toolkit includes customizable content for HBAs and members to share with their community. The toolkit features:

  • Social media posts and a Facebook banner.
  • A customizable article to publish on your website or share with local media.
  • Flyers and posters to share with schools, community groups or hand out at community events.

Sample Activities for HBAs and Members

HBAs and members are encouraged to participate in weekly activities throughout October to celebrate the industry, connect with students and highlight careers in residential construction.

Oct 1-2: Share Your Story

Members are encouraged to share their construction career journey, accomplishments or current role on social media to help put a face to professionals working in the industry. Use #CareersInConstructionMonth and #CICM2026, and be sure to tag @NAHBHome on Facebook.

Oct. 5-9: Engage with Boys & Girls Clubs

Help introduce students to careers in residential construction by volunteering with your local Boys & Girls Clubs. Members can speak to students about the industry, lead hands-on activities or even arrange a jobsite visit.

Oct. 12-16: Student Chapter Engagement

Reach out to your HBA's affiliated student chapter to see how you can support students this school year. Members can help by serving as guest speakers, hosting a jobsite tour or offering guidance on IBS travel and Student Competition preparation.

Oct. 19-23: Young Professionals Week

Connect with your HBA's Young Professionals (YP) group to support emerging leaders in the industry. YP members are encouraged to share their career journeys on social media using #CareersInConstructionMonth and #CICM2026.

Oct. 22: Careers in Construction Day

Celebrate the profession with a community service project. Consider partnering with Habitat for Humanity or teaming up with your local parks and recreation department on a project that gives back to the community.

Oct. 26-30: Celebrate Your Team

Spotlight your team on social media by sharing shout-outs, photos and testimonials that show the people behind residential construction. Use #CareersInConstructionMonth and #CICM2026, and tag @NAHBHome on Facebook.
