Project Statement
In collaboration with a new ownership group and their talented general contractor team, the interior design plan successfully reimagined this student-housing-of-yesterday into the student-housing-of-tomorrow. The design intent focused on a purposeful re-planning of spaces, utilization of unexpected materials, bold fixtures and imaginative graphic elements.
Inspired by the proximity to The Ole Miss campus and the vibrant student body, the Ole Miss Rebels’ colors of red and navy blue were used as a springboard for the new curated interiors. The reinvigorated space plan creates a boutique hotel-style reception, maximizing the sense of arrival for prospective students. The overall remodel plan opened visibility between the lobby and leasing staff.
Meanwhile, repurposed spaces like the club room, game room and study room floor established the perfect stay-play-study life balance. In the club room, lending unique character, and reinforcing the community setting are purposeful aesthetic elements such as the old-brick veneer, which harkens back to the historic Ole Miss University architectural vernacular. A local artist was engaged to paint a custom mural, further enhancing the brick wall feature.
Upstairs, each study space and private room has its own identity — benefitting from stylized wallpaper choices, from oversize floral to handsome geometric patterns. The carpet selections also vary room-to-room, while glass walls with storefront doors offer privacy, yet still foster the collaborative spirit.
In the game lounge, Ole Miss is represented with emboldened “Hotty Toddy” ceiling graphic. A custom floating armless bench with performance leather and plaid fabric anchors the room and provides extra lounge seating. Additionally, playful geometric pattern tile creates an off-beat wainscot appearance and enhances durability in the heavily utilized game room.
