Project Statement

When Waterton acquired Manor Six Forks in Raleigh, N.C., in 2019, it was already showing signs of wear and tear. When plans for the renovation were finalized in early 2020, the entire process took on a new dynamic as the country became mired down with pandemic-driven challenges. Waterton remained committed to raising the bar for residents and its site team by implementing a thoughtful, value-add renovation across common areas, units and outdoor spaces.

From the entry experience to the units themselves, the overall design experience at Manor Six Forks was dated and in need of a contemporary fix. Drawing on the idea of home being a place of connection, warmth and well-being, the property was updated using the textures and palette of the surrounding area, bringing together elements that embrace the love of natural light and boutique design.

With a keen eye on community demographics and the surrounding aesthetic, the team found inspiration in a “Midtown Magic” theme. It was a concept grounded in the notion that a sense of place can elevate a broad, overarching narrative around connection with the environment and its power to create an enriching lifestyle experience. Using a human-scaled, urban design approach that combines a natural and an urban aesthetic, Waterton has transformed the community into an attractive rental option in this enclave of Raleigh, N.C.
