Project Statement
Golden Age Living Accommodations (GALA) is a joint venture between Mt. Airy Baptist Church, BCK Affordable Housing and Conifer Realty. Located in Philadelphia, GALA is a 62+ affordable housing community comprising one- and two-bedroom apartment homes, with five apartments set-aside for chronically homeless seniors.
GALA is conveniently located to many SEPTA bus routes, grocery stores, shopping, restaurants, medical centers and Cheltenham Square. The community is energy efficient, and exceeds the requirements of Energy Star Version 3 and compliant with Enterprise Green Standards. Residents enjoy amenities including a laundry center, fitness room, community room with a kitchen, and an arts and crafts room.
Health and wellness services are provided to the residents by Chestnut Hill Hospital. Other social services include a part-time case manager who is responsible for managing the linkages with the Center in the Park and other community agencies to ensure senior residents can live independently.
