The Home Builders Association of Fayetteville (HBAF) established its Professional Women in Building of the Sandhills (PWBS) council to advance, engage and support women in the residential construction industry. The PWBS was designed purposefully by integrating a structured approach to leadership that ensured operational efficiency and consistent growth and decision-making. Intentional programming and the expansion of meaningful opportunities for professional development, networking and community involvement also contributed to a strong foundation that supports recruitment, retention and sustainability efforts for the council and the HBAF.
Since its launch, PWBS has grown to 82 highly engaged members, achieving an average attendance rate of 80% for council events. Service events and partnerships with the local Fayetteville Urban Ministry have helped to reinforce the identity and mission of the council, while strengthening member participation and demonstrating the impact of the association through community initiatives. Additionally, the council achieved financial sustainability with a diversified revenue model that has generated $25,275 in revenue through dues, sponsorships and events.
