Website Redesign Expands HBA Reach Across Community
HBA: Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City
Category: Communications
Location: Kansas City, Mo.
Size: 601+ members
Year: 2025
The Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City (KCHBA) redesigned its website in 2025 to expand its reach and to engage a wider audience of existing and prospective members, residential construction professionals and the public. Poll data collected from focus groups of members and the broader public showed that overall awareness of the KCHBA was low, those who knew of the KCHBA viewed it positively and that there was great interest in learning more about housing affordability and the industry. Using these results, KCHBA's Strategic Communications Plan was put in place to strengthen the site's educational outreach and incorporate more interactive elements with dynamic maps and motion-driven designs, making the KCHBA's mission clearer and more compelling to non-members.
The success of this new website redesign was reflected by significant growth in user engagement in the first five months, according to site analytics. KCHBA.org has had more than 225,000 views and 30,000 users visit the revamped site, with visitors spending an average of 1 minute and 11 seconds exploring new features and content. This is up from 57 seconds before the redesign was implemented. This project has accomplished its goal of increasing public awareness of what the KCHBA is, what it does and the ways it supports the greater Kansas City community.
