Following Hurricane Helene, the Builders Association of the Blue Ridge Mountains (BABRM) took a proactive and deeply personal approach by reaching out to nearly 1,000 members to offer support and connect them with recovery resources. By checking in directly with members, the association identified immediate needs and provided reassurance during a time of uncertainty. BABRM’s disaster task force played a key role in gathering data and directing members to essential resources, including FEMA and SBA loans, mental health services, financial assistance, construction support and temporary shelter. These efforts emphasize the power of community and human connection in times of crisis.
The association’s ability to quickly mobilize and organize support not only strengthened trust and relationships with existing members but also resonated with newer and previously less engaged members. Many expressed deep appreciation for the personalized outreach, noting its emotional impact and the renewed sense of unity within the BABRM community.
