The HBA of Raleigh & Wake County’s New Home Expo allows member builders to showcase their new home communities to area realtors and communities rather than just a single house in the parade. Realtors love attending to see what’s new and upcoming. The HBA had more than 600 realtors RSVP to attend. By incorporating the Parade of Homes Realtor Day into the New Home Expo, the association was able to cross-promote two committees at the HBA that usually have very little to do with each other: the Special Events Committee and the Parade of Homes Committee.

The HBA is continually finding ways to improve this event to make it feel less like a tradeshow and more like a fun experience for the exhibiting members and the attending realtors. In addition to choosing a new theme each year that the exhibitors use to dress up their employees and booths, the HBA implemented a Parade of Homes tie-in event last year. Members who participated in the New Home Expo had the exclusive opportunity to participate in the HBA’s first-ever Parade of Homes Realtor Day. Their Parade houses were open for an extra day during the Parade of Homes, but only for local realtors. The tie-in event was promoted during the Parade of Homes and thousands of realtors participated.
