Build Indiana Roots (BIR) is a coalition of business groups and trade associations that supports attainable housing for Hoosiers. The coalition, created by the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI) Advocacy Board, educates Hoosiers on attainable housing and advocates for responsible, balanced housing policies.

BIR has builders, associate members, and utility companies working together to help communicate the top housing issues to municipalities and the public. BAGI’s Advocacy Board partners with Indiana BA to create a list of annual topics to address in the Central Indiana market. The BA then uses its media partner to create content which is included in monthly “Market Updates” sent to members and municipality partners who utilize the content in commission/council meetings.

In addition, BAGI has used Build Indiana Roots as a political action arm, utilizing BIR to support candidates for planning commissions, city/town councils, mayoral races, and Indiana governor races. The success of this support is evident in the fact that, to date, BIR has publicly supported seven city/town candidates, all of whom won their respective races.
