The Careers in Construction Colorado Home Build Program provides students with practical knowledge and experience by immersing them in real-world construction projects. Students in the program construct a 1,200-square-foot modular home on school district property as part of their career and technical education (CTE) classes. The program has garnered recognition from local and national supply companies, recognizing its value and impact.

The program is a testament to the transformative power of collaboration between high schools and the industry. Industry members donate materials for the build. The donations are critical to the program’s success and create a pathway for industry leaders to build relationships with the schools. Schools invite industry leaders to connect with the students and they ultimately gain mentors and valuable career insights.

With seven ongoing projects and three homes already purchased, the Home Build program demonstrates tangible outcomes and a clear impact on the local housing market. The proceeds from the sale of the completed homes are reinvested in the program, creating a sustainable funding model. This reinvestment ensures the program’s visibility, viability, and long-term sustainability.
