The BA of the Blue Ridge Mountains (BRBAM) partnered with BeLoved Asheville to support the construction of a village of 12 micro-homes for people experiencing homelessness. BRBAM provided fundraising, awareness, and public support for the project, as well as helping to build the homes. The project seeks to address the housing crisis and lack of affordable housing options that have left many community members without a stable and secure place to call home.
The project involves the construction of the micro-homes, built primarily with donated labor and materials from community partners, including the HBA. The homes provide a safe and secure living place with access to essential amenities. The BeLoved Village project seeks to empower residents by allowing them to build equity and community over time. The success of the BeLoved Village project has led to plans for additional phases, including the construction of more microhomes and a larger community center to provide extra support services. The project has also inspired similar initiatives in other communities, highlighting the importance of creating collaborative solutions to the housing affordability crisis.
