Midterm Elections: 3 Ways Members Can Make a Difference on Nov. 3
Safe, affordable, and decent housing is essential to the well-being of families, communities, and the nation. Elected officials at all levels play a role in finding solutions to make housing more affordable.
Here’s how NAHB members can make a difference this election cycle:
- Vote for Housing
Pro-housing policies can significantly impact housing affordability in communities nationwide. Before casting your vote this election season, research or ask your candidates what pro-housing policies they are willing to support. Check out more resources and how you can spread the word on nahb.org.
- Support BUILD-PAC
BUILD-PAC’s mission is to elect pro-housing, pro-business candidates to Congress who will protect and promote the home building industry in Washington. BUILD-PAC’s strong political impact in federal elections is made possible by the personal contributions of individual NAHB members from across the federation. View BUILD-PAC-supported candidates.
- Promote Let Builders Build® Campaign
Spread the message that housing production should be a priority through NAHB’s Let Builders Build® campaign. NAHB campaign resources include sample social media messages and collateral to show that home builders and housing play an important role in our economy and every election.
Post-Election Webinar: Nov. 9
As noted in a recent Housing Developments podcast episode, the party in power typically loses seats in midterm elections, but redistricting has reduced the number of competitive districts, which could play a role in whether Congress will flip this year and, if so, by how many seats.
To provide members with key election cycle updates and insights on what the midterm elections mean for housing, NAHB will host a members-only webinar on Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. ET. A panel of staff experts from NAHB’s advocacy team will discuss election outcomes at all levels and how they impact policy going forward. Register now. (Login required.)
