Custom Builder Transforms a Tuscan Time Capsule Into a Modern Showpiece for IBS 2027
When the International Builders’ Show (IBS) returns to Las Vegas in 2027, attendees will get a firsthand look at how an aging luxury residence can be transformed into a contemporary showpiece.
That’s according to Primaris Custom Homes, the Las Vegas-based custom builder leading The New American Remodel® 2027, one of the two official show homes of IBS.
Originally built in 2004, the residence was defined by heavy Tuscan-inspired architecture, featuring an abundance of stacked stone and dark finishes throughout the interior. Despite its dated appearance, the property offered an ideal foundation for renovation thanks to its solid bones and expansive footprint.
“This is the perfect house for this project,” said Grant Matesic, owner of Primaris Custom Homes, whose portfolio includes HGTV-broadcasted renovations and other luxury-home projects with rigorous timelines similar to that of The New American Home program.
Located in the MacDonald Highlands community in Henderson, Nev., the residence is being reimagined with a bright, “California coastal” aesthetic, modern finishes and a stronger emphasis on family living and seamless indoor-outdoor flow.
Matesic said the goal is to optimize the layout while preserving key architectural elements that give the home its character. Many of the original archways, for example, will remain in place and be updated with a more contemporary appearance.
“We’re showing that … people can do a remodel of their existing home and make it feel fresh and new without ripping the whole house down,” Matesic said.
The transformation extends beyond the interior. Outside, the project includes a complete landscape renovation, addressing the grounds that had become significantly overgrown over time.
Matesic said he is particularly excited to demonstrate how today’s building products and construction techniques can breathe new life into existing homes. He is confident that the finished project will be “incredible and inspiring” and serve as a compelling example of what’s possible through thoughtful remodeling.
Attendees will get to experience what Primaris describes as a “master class in transforming existing structures into architectural icons” when the project is officially unveiled during IBS 2027, Feb. 2-4.
