As states and local jurisdictions consider updates to their energy codes, builders need to know what’s new in the 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and how it may impact their work.

NAHB is now offering members free educational videos on the new code, the 2024 IECC Overview Series. These videos break down the key differences between the 2024 IECC and past editions, focusing on changes that improve usability and what they mean for construction costs.

Members will learn the significant changes incorporated into the 2024 IECC compared to its previous editions (2021 IECC and 2018 IECC) and understand the major differences in the organization and structure of the compliance paths in the 2024 IECC.

Being empowered with the right tools and knowledge helps builders not only understand the impact on their businesses but also engage in informed discussions about energy code adoption and amendments in your community.

Viewers can select content specific to their IECC climate zone to learn about requirements where they build. Although the 2024 IECC will achieve higher energy savings than the 2021 edition, the residential provisions offer substantially more flexibility and a wider range of options for builders to achieve compliance. The NAHB 2024 IECC Residential Code Adoption Kit offers a number of resources to help builders and state and local HBAs navigate the new requirements.

Visit the 2024 IECC Overview Series now on NAHB’s e-learning platform. Viewers must be logged in to elearning.nahb.org using their single sign on credentials for nahb.org.
