2024 IECC Adoption Kit
The 2024 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) Residential Code Adoption Kit is provided for HBAs and other stakeholders to help with evaluation of the new energy code provisions as local jurisdictions will be gearing up for the code adoption process.
The code adoption kit includes the following information:
- List of significant changes from the 2018 IECC to the 2024 IECC residential provisions and from the 2021 IECC to the 2024 IECC
- List of recommended amendments to 2024 IECC supported with substantiating information
- List of items to consider before adoption of 2024 IECC Appendices
- Cost analysis of the 2024 IECC code changes, including breakdown of construction costs for key code changes, conducted by Home Innovation Research Labs (the NAHB blog has a detailed summary of the cost analysis)
- Summary of the added construction cost to achieve 2021 IECC and 2024 IECC compliance compared to older codes
- Summary table with the status of state adoption of different editions of the IECC around the country
- The 2024 IECC Overview Series, a collection of free educational videos for NAHB members that break down the key differences between the 2024 IECC and past editions, focusing on changes that improve usability and what they mean for construction costs. Viewers can select content specific to their IECC climate zone to learn about requirements where they build.
ICC codes can be viewed on ICC’s website free of charge or can be purchased as a subscription or pdf.
