The NAHB Leading Suppliers Council (LSC) recently announced that Typar’s Clear Acrylic Flashing is the winner of the 2026 Spark Award. The annual Spark Award recognizes the most innovative LSC member who demonstrates superior knowledge and expertise in developing cutting-edge building products and services.

Typar Clear Flashing

Typar, a leader in high-performance weather-resistant building solutions, introduces the Clear Acrylic Flashing as the first and only flashing on the market that allows the pattern on window nailing fins to be completely visible upon installation, helping ensure proper attachment and prevent costly callbacks.

The flashing was developed in response to emerging building code changes requiring better visibility of the nail and screw fin patterns during window installations and inspections. In contrast, traditional opaque flashings tend to obscure such patterns.

The unique qualities of the Clear Acrylic Flashing helped the product stand out from a competitive group of Spark Award applications.

“We’re incredibly grateful to NAHB for this recognition,” said Andrew Irvine, director of product line management at Typar. “Clear Flashing is the result of listening closely to our customers and responding to a very real, code-driven need for greater visibility and confidence at critical flashing details.”

Improperly installed windows and doors can be a source of significant and often hidden expenses for home builders because of immediate repairs or long-term issues like energy loss and structural damage. These issues represent common callbacks for builders, placing them high on the list of frequent post-construction concerns.

In addition to simplifying window and door installation with a transparent view of the nailing fins, the clear flashings can streamline the inspection process, helping installers and inspectors verify that fasteners are properly placed without needing to remove or adjust the tape. Typar states this visibility also reduces the time and labor associated with reworks, cutting down costs and minimizing delays.

“This product reflects Typar’s commitment to market-backed innovation — developing solutions that help installers, inspectors and specifiers get it right the first time,” continued Irvine. “Receiving the Spark Award reinforces our ongoing dedication to advancing full system solutions that strengthen building performance across the entire value chain.”

Typar’s Clear Acrylic Flashing was among numerous applications from other highly innovative suppliers for this year’s Spark Award. Two runner-up certificates were awarded to standout products:

Typar will be presented with the Spark Award during the Suppliers Reception at The New American Home 2026 in Winter Park, Fla., on Sunday, Feb. 15.
