NAHB is joining with official safety sponsor Builders Mutual to highlight jobsite safety resources during National Safety Month, an annual observance from the National Safety Council.

In the final week of National Safety Month, we focus on mental health and wellbeing.

NAHB, Builders Mutual, and many other partners have been focused on mental health and wellbeing for seven years. There is a stigma in construction about reaching out for help that we are determined to end.

Simply getting construction professionals to discuss mental health has been a challenge. NAHB members aligned with Builders Mutual and the North Carolina HBA launched a series of storytelling videos to show the industry that mental health issues touch everyone, including construction workers.

Builders Mutual also recorded a podcast episode featuring the North Carolina storytellers explaining why they decided now was the time to openly discuss mental health issues.

If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out and talk to someone. It doesn’t have to be in public like the storytelling videos. It can be a friend, co-worker, family member, someone at your church, or a mental health professional. Just talk to someone. If you are thinking of harming yourself, call 988 immediately.

Additionally, NAHB has published resources for member mental health and wellbeing. Find tools and resources you can use to help yourself or others seek the help they need, including the video embedded below.
