Successful HBA Fundraisers Support BUILD-PAC Election 2024 Efforts
Home builders associations across the country are working hard to fundraise for BUILD-PAC, NAHB’s bipartisan political arm, ahead of the 2024 election.
BUILD-PAC supports electing pro-housing, pro-building candidates to federal office. For the 2023-24 cycle thus far, the PAC has raised $2.3 million, which is 71% of the way to reaching its goal and more than $400,000 ahead of its 2022 pace.
In Missouri, Jordynn Webster, government affairs and workforce development manager at the HBA of Greater Kansas City, rented event space at the local Chicken N Pickle to bring potential donors together and enjoy two beloved activities: eating chicken and playing pickleball.
With more than 130 people in attendance, the HBA raised more than $45,000, pitting the Missouri and Kansas sides of the city against each other in friendly competition. Board members even dressed as referees and cheerleaders.
“In Kansas, we’re fighting an uphill battle when it comes to housing and housing affordability,” said Webster. “In cities like Kansas City, they’re passing legislation that’s anti-housing and anti-business, so not only do we need advocates at the federal level, but we also need to fight these local battles.”
In New York, Mike Fazio, executive vice president of the New York State Builders Association, organized a networking wine and dinner night in Chelsea.
“I was happy it was a successful evening,” said Fazio. “It’s always great to raise money for BUILD-PAC because it’s very important for the industry. BUILD-PAC does so much for all the builders around the country by fighting every day in D.C.”
