Statement of NAHB 2023 Third Vice Chairman Candidate Bill Owens

The NAHB Nominations Committee has certified one candidate for 2023 Third Vice Chairman: William W. “Bill” Owens, from Worthington, Ohio, who is a member of the BIA of Central Ohio. He will address the NAHB Leadership Council in June at the Spring Leadership Meetings in Washington, D.C. Here is his statement.

Bill Owens is president of Owens Construction, a company he established in 1982. Celebrating 40 years as a leading residential design/build firm in central Ohio, Owens Construction has built its success on providing clients unparalleled design, implementation and service. The company completes 30 to 40 projects a year with a focus on integrating seamless appearance, energy efficient technology and creating welcoming home environments.

Bill attended Miami University and received his B.Phil in 1980. He joined the BIA of Central Ohio in 1987 and has served on numerous committees and councils. Active in the leadership, Bill served as president in 2003.

He was Ohio HBA president in 2010 and is a state life director. Today, in addition to being a long-time member of the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies, R/F Program and working with non-profits, such as the Better Living Design Institute and Partners for Community and Character, Bill holds designations as a CGR, CGP and CAPS.

Believing education is a cornerstone of our future, Bill devotes time to professional development, workforce development and the International Builders’ Show. His educational pursuits led to his leadership at the Home Builders Institute (HBI) where he served as chairman of its 2010 Board of Trustees.

Understanding that you get out of it what you put into it, Bill has given his time to the industry and reaped the rewards of friendships and knowledge.

Bill and his wife Betsy work together in their business and enjoy mentoring, educating, and serving their NAHB family.
