NAHB is now accepting applications for a newly launched mentorship program, Leadership Connect. This program pairs experienced Leadership Council delegates (advisers) with individuals new to the Federation’s national leadership (apprentices). The goal of the adviser and apprentice relationship is to develop the next generation of NAHB leaders and to exchange business ideas and industry knowledge. Leadership Connect participants will take part in a yearlong program with built-in touchpoints and opportunities for face-to-face interaction at the association’s leadership meetings. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 29.
For Apprentices: Apprentices have the opportunity to connect and learn from an experienced delegate. They can grow as an association leader, build their network and improve their business. To participate, apprentices should have a leadership background at their local or state home builders association and an interest in serving at a national level. Apply now.
For Advisers: Advisers provide the knowledge, advice and support to help shape new leaders. To qualify as an adviser, you must have served on a NAHB national committee(s) or council(s) board of trustees for three terms. Apply now.
As part of the development of Leadership Connect, NAHB asked a small number of participants to take part in a soft launch of the program last year. After a successful trial period, NAHB has built a solid foundation to invest in future leadership of our local and state associations, and at the national level.
“The relationship is a two-way street,” said soft-launch adviser Marty Mitchell of the Maryland BIA. “Although I helped guide my apprentice through NAHB, we also talked business and mutually benefited by participating in the program.”
