Recent Copper Pipe Settlement Action May Be of Interest to NAHB Members

NAHB members may be entitled to a cash distribution from the settlement of a class-action lawsuit, Al's Discount Plumbing, et al. v. Viega LLC, Civil Action No.: 1:19-cv-00159, which was recently brought to the Federation's attention. A payment from $10 million of the settlement is available for those who purchased Viega ProPress® Copper Press Fittings between Jan. 29, 2015, and Sept. 18, 2020, in the District of Columbia and the following states:

  • Massachusetts
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • Mississippi
  • North Carolina
  • North Dakota
  • Nebraska
  • New Hampshire
  • New Mexico

  • Oregon
  • Rhode Island
  • South Dakota
  • Tennessee
  • Utah
  • Vermont
  • Wisconsin
  • West Virginia
These persons will also be entitled to rebates on future purchases of Viega ProPress® Copper Press Fittings as part of a Rebate Program which totals $5 million. You can download a copy of the Court approved notice and settlement payment claim form for your information. Please read it carefully as it may affect your legal rights in this matter. The documents are also available on a dedicated web site, pressfittingssettlement.com. Any claim forms must be submitted by Dec. 15, 2020.
