SB 5961 (Wash.) Rent Control

Senate Bill (SB 5961) is an act that will limit rent and fee increases, requiring a notice of rent and fee increases by the landlord to the tenant, limiting fees and deposits a landlord can charge, establishing a landlord resources center and associated services, authorizing a tent least termination, allows attorney general to enforce, makes several amendments to the code sections, and adds a new section to Chapter 59.19 and 59.20 that includes penalties and declaring emergencies. SCR 1611 Property Tax Valuations

Senate Concurrent Resolution (SCR) 1611 amends section 1 of article 11 of the constitution of the state of Kansas. Further, if voted by the legislature, it will go to the voters for a vote. The legislative bill works to cap property valuations by 4% except for new construction or remodeling. If passed in the legislature, the SCR 1611 will go to the ballot for the 2024 year. HB 4996 Transferable Development Rights

House Bill 4996 amends the South Carolina Code of Laws by adding section 6-29-725 to permit the transfer of development rights. If this legislation passes it will allow the transfer of development rights (TDR) for a landowner looking to sell or transfer the development rights of their property to another location that in many cases is in the same municipality. South Carolina Senate Bill 309

Senate Bill 309 amends the current law to add code sections 6-7-510 by enacting the South Carolina Inclusionary Act and adding section 6-7-520 which authorizes counties and municipalities to use inclusionary zoning strategies to increase affordable housing availability. If this legislation passes it will require a developer building a housing development to designate a certain number of units for low-income affordable housing. View the analysis.
