The Affordable Housing Group is an organization of professionals that is engaged in the development of affordable rental housing using the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC). Membership consists of developers, owners, investors, syndicators and lenders involved in LIHTC deals.

The Affordable Housing Group analyzes national issues and leverages the political power of the National Association of Home Builders to support its members. The group’s continuous lobbying efforts have paved the way for program changes that benefit developers who use LIHTC as a financing resource for affordable rental housing.

Affordable Housing Group Membership

All current NAHB members are eligible to join the Affordable Housing Group (AHG). Membership into the AHG is on an individual basis. There are three different AHG membership levels available:

Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Database Tool

The LIHTC Database Tool analyzes data extracted from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) LIHTC database and the American Community Survey to determine whether there is:

  • a correlation between LIHTC units and the income tract in which they are developed
  • a relationship between the concentration of LIHTC units and variables commonly associated with socio-economic immobility

AHG Associate and Steering Committee members automatically receive access to the LIHTC Mapping Tool as a part of their membership package. A la cart subscriptions are available to the LIHTC Mapping Tool.
