James M. Fischer, Jr., served as president of NAHB in 1987. A home builder and residential developer from Nashville, Tenn., he owns the Fischer Construction Co. Fischer was an NAHB national representative from 1978-79 and an area vice president representing Tennessee and Alabama from 1980-81. Fischer was the Tennessee state association president in 1978 and was named "State Builder of the Year" in 1976. He has served as vice chairman of the Tennessee Housing Development Agency and represented the housing industry on Tennessee Gov. Lamar Alexander's Coalition for Housing Committee.
