Stanley Waranch served as NAHB president in 1972. A builder, land developer, and civic leader from Norfolk, Va., Waranch participated in the growth and diversification of the firm Buxbaum & Waranch since entering home building in the late 1940's. Waranch was the first president of the Tidewater Association of Home Builders in 1952-53, Virginia State Association president in 1963, a regional vice president of NAHB in 1956, and president of the Builders and Contractors Exchange in 1965. He is a life member of NAHB’s Board of Directors. Waranch serves as a director of Norfolk General Hospital, is a member of the Eastern Virginia Medical School advisory committee and sits on the Norfolk board of Virginia National Bank. He has also headed the United Communities Fund and the United Jewish Fund.
