David D. Bohannon served as the first president of the Home Builders Institute — the predecessor to NAHB — in 1942. He made an enormous contribution to the production of war housing and worked diligently toward the creation of NAHB. He built homes in the San Mateo, Calif., area. Bohannon also served as president of the Urban Land Institute in 1958 and 1959.
