Gary is involved in the Home Building industry by giving back to the industry that he is so very passionate about through volunteering with the Greensboro Builders Association, the North Carolina Home Builders Association (NCHBA), for which he served as a two-term president, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) by serving on and chairing numerous committees, the Greensboro Housing Authority, Habitat for Humanity and Davidson County Board of Adjustments, and the Triad Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition (TREBIC) chair. He is a Senior Life Delegate for NAHB and Past Chair of the NAHB Construction, Safety and Health Committee and NAHB Construction Liability, Risk Management, Building Materials Committee, Land Development Committee, and Environmental Issues Committee. Gary currently serves as the chair of the NAHB Association Planning Committee. He serves with a passion for keeping workers safe on the job site. Gary also served on the board of directors of Builder's Mutual Insurance Company, a company dedicated to providing insurance for building industry companies throughout the Southeast. He recently served as the Executive Director and is a current board member of the Job-Site Safety Institute (JSI). This non-profit organization promotes the safety of construction workers through research and education. Gary is a North Carolina Home Builders Housing Hall of Fame inductee and recipient of the Jack H. Brown Memorial Award from the Greensboro Regional Realtors Association.
