Credits include over 1000 merchandised homes and winning numerous awards for Best Interior Merchandising. Kathy served as a speaker and moderator at the NAHB International Builder‘s Show.
As an active member of the Coastal Virginia Building Industry Association. Within the association she served as Homearama Interior Designer, Member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Sales and Marketing Council, Chairman of the Stanley Awards, member of the Green Building Council and Membership Committee. Browning served as a trustee for The National Sales and Marketing Council, Board of Governors for the Institute of Residential Marketing, Design Committee, 50+ Council, Convention Education, Convention and Meeting Committee and Professional Women in Building Council. She co-chaired the Best in America Living Awards. Her articles on affordable merchandising, design trends and green design have been featured in the National Association of Homebuilders Sales and Marketing Ideas magazine and Builder Magazine. She has contributed to and has been the subject of feature articles in the Virginian Pilot newspaper and pinned a column, Design Lines, for the Home section of the Virginian Pilot newspaper.
She currently serves on NAHB’s Convention and Meeting Committee and was recently appointed by the NAHB Senior Officers to 2nd Vice-Chair of Design Committee. Kathy sits on several subcommittees within the association including Sustainability and Green Building serving as chair of their Education Working Group and NAHB's Designation Working Group. She has served as an IBS Ambassador since the development of the program.
Her professional designation includes the prestigious Master of the Institute of Residential Marketing and Certified Marketing Professional. Browning is the only merchandiser/designer in her local association to hold NAHB’s Certified Green Professional and MIRM designation.
Kathy has held the office of president of The University of Tennessee Virginia Bay Area Alumni Association, served on The UTAA Board of Governors and currently serves on the UT College of Architecture + Design Alumni Advocacy Board.
She has served on the Board of Directors of the Junior League of Norfolk/Virginia Beach, President of Tidewater Alumnae Panhellenic Association, graduate of Leadership Hampton Roads, National Officer of Phi Mu Women’s Fraternity and on the Administrative Board of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church. She is certified CERT (Citizens Emergency Relief Team) and served on numerous volunteer boards and committees throughout the Hampton Roads area. She currently serves on the Resort Planning and Design Review Committee.
Design Consultants has merchandised model homes, condominiums, apartments, clubhouses, and community buildings and adult care living facilities throughout the south and northeast.
