National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Student Leadership Program Application
Program Overview:
The NAHB HBCU Leadership Program, powered by NAHB Student Chapters and Workforce Development, aims to foster leadership, mentorship, and career advancement opportunities for students enrolled at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). This initiative is part of a broader effort to diversify the residential construction industry and strengthen professional pathways for students.
Program Goals:
- Expand equitable access to construction leadership opportunities
- Diversify the construction management and residential building workforce
- Deepen NAHB’s engagement with HBCU talent and institutions
- Build a lasting network of student leaders and construction professionals

Application Requirements & Timeline
Eligibility Criteria:
- Current enrollment at an HBCU
- Major in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related field
- Minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Demonstrated leadership interest and commitment to diversity in construction
- Availability to participate fully throughout the program duration
- Applicant must be at least 19 years of age at the time of the Sept. program start date (Sept. 23, 2026)
Application Timeline:
- Application Window: March 9 – April 24, 2026
- Interview Period: April 27 – May 8, 2026
- Program Acceptance Notification: May 15, 2026
- Program Start Date: July 2026 with virtual introduction and onboarding
- In-person Program in Washington, D.C.: Sept. 23-25, 2026 (travel stipend and hotel provided)
