Remodeled Show Home Uses Comprehensive Approach to Boost Efficiency
The New American Remodel® 2027 will be much more than a beautiful show home. It will highlight just how far building products and techniques have advanced in a relatively short period of time.
When originally built in 2003, the Tuscan-style residence was considered a modern, high-performing home for its time. But after more than two decades, it was due for a comprehensive upgrade.
Optimizing energy efficiency is the primary goal of the 2027 remodeled showcase, one of the two official show homes at next year’s International Builders’ Show (IBS). And as the project nears the final stages of construction, the build team is increasingly confident that the home will meet or exceed performance expectations.
According to Josh Kane, vice president of Two Trails Inc. who is overseeing the performance certification process, the home is well on its way to being at least 30-35% more energy efficient. The key has been to take a holistic approach to the remodel, rather than focusing on individual upgrades.
Kane notes several key upgrades that will cohesively impact the home’s overall thermal performance, particularly the HVAC, windows, insulation and water-heating units. Together, these improvements will not only create a home that is more efficient on paper, but also one that performs better under real-world conditions.
Kane is familiar with the typical challenges of delivering a high-performance, luxury show home within a condensed timeline, and he applauds the hard work of the build team at Primaris Custom Homes.
“The Primaris team has been excellent. To undertake such a large remodel in such a short time is very impressive," Kane said. "They have worked tirelessly to make this project happen.”
