Chairman's Update: What the Industry Pulse Check Told Us About Our Federation

In his August update, 2026 NAHB Chairman Bill Owens spotlights the feedback received through NAHB’s Industry Pulse Check and next steps on the 21^st Century ROAD to Housing Act implementation.

Thousands of members and non-members responded to the Industry Pulse Check. Top feedback included:

• Sentiment toward NAHB and its efforts for the residential construction industry is overwhelmingly positive.
• Positive sentiment was especially strong among respondents who perceive the value of their membership.
• Networking and community provided by NAHB is the most valuable member benefit.

NAHB will take this and other feedback into consideration as it moves forward with bylaw modernization, membership model and strategic plan discussions through the Blueprint to 100.

“I’m excited to bring you along as we prepare data-backed steps into the future,” Owens noted.

On the advocacy front, now that the 21^st Century ROAD to Housing Act is law, it’s time to focus on implementation.

“This law has great provisions for housing, but it’s not a silver bullet that will solve the housing crisis,” Owens explains. “There’s a lot of work still to do, and the ROAD to a thriving housing market will be long.”
