NAHB Completes Fall Prevention Training Pilot Program at 20 HBAs Across U.S.
NAHB, the Job-Site Safety Institute (JSI), and the National Housing Endowment (NHE) are proud to announce the successful completion of the Fall Prevention Training Pilot Program. Through this initiative, 20 in-person training courses were delivered across the country, providing approximately 460 participants with fall prevention training tailored to the residential construction industry.
Courses were offered in both English and Spanish to help reach a broader audience of workers and employers.
Launched in 2024, the pilot program was developed to expand access to in-person safety training opportunities for NAHB members and residential construction workers. The four-hour course was specifically designed to address the unique challenges faced on home building sites and provide practical solutions to help prevent falls and improve worker safety.
A key component of the program's success was the partnership between NAHB and state and local home builders associations that helped coordinate, promote, and host the training sessions. Their support played a critical role in reaching workers across the country, and NAHB would like to recognize the following participating associations:
- Ames Home Builders Association
- Builders Association of Central PA
- Charlotte Desoto Building Industry Association
- Greater Cedar Rapids Housing and Building Association
- Greater Iowa City Area Home Builders Association
- Housing and Building Association of Colorado Springs
- Home Builders Association of Greater Knoxville
- Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans
- Home Builders Association of Metro Denver
- Home Builders Association of Statesboro
- Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire
- Home Builders Association of the Upper Peninsula
- Indiana Builders Association
- Lakeshore Home Builders Association
- Madison Area Builders Association
- Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties
- Roanoke Regional Home Builders Association
- Southwest Suburban Home Builders Association
- Topeka Area Building Association
- York Builders Association
Feedback from participants and participating HBAs was overwhelmingly positive and provided valuable insights into how safety training can be delivered more effectively throughout the residential construction industry. The pilot program demonstrated a strong demand for accessible, industry-specific safety training and highlighted opportunities to expand future training efforts.
For those who were unable to attend an in-person session, the Fall Prevention Training course remains available online in both English and Spanish. Participants can complete the training at their own pace and receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course.
NAHB remains committed to advancing safety education and will continue to keep members informed about new training opportunities and initiatives. Building on the lessons learned from this pilot program, NAHB will evaluate future opportunities to expand safety training outreach and strengthen safety resources for the residential construction industry.
