On the latest episode of NAHB’s podcast, Housing Developments, CEO Jim Tobin and COO Paul Lopez explore three key housing issues — immigration reform, home insurance and tariffs — that will be front and center leading up to and during the 2025 International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Las Vegas, Feb. 25-27.

“This is a really important time in the housing industry to kind of chart the course for the next six months to a year because there is so much opportunity ahead of us,” Tobin stated.

“That’s why being in Vegas is so important for us at the national association to help you plot your course for your business, your customers and the market over the next, like I said, six months to a year,” he added. “That’s what we’re excited to do — impart our knowledge coming up.”

Tobin will be participating in a Game Changer session, “Executive Insights: Exploring the Year Ahead with Home Building’s Top Leaders,” for a candid conversation about the state of home building, important observations from IBS, ideas and approaches they plan to implement in 2025, and their predictions for how the industry will be impacted by everything from interest rates to the election results.

NAHB’s Economics team will also be sharing the latest economic forecasts and trends throughout the week, including:

Attendees can access these sessions and more with an Expo+Education pass.

Members will also have a chance to hear Tobin and Dietz share insights on the future of the housing industry at the 2025 Meeting of the Members on Thursday, Feb. 27.

Tobin and Lopez also delve into the battle that is the House budget and how NAHB is advocating for housing policies and incentives as part of the package, including important tax components such as the Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), carried interest, mortgage interest deduction, and more.

This episode also features another edition of Builders’ Show Insider. NAHB VP of Event, Product & Brand Marketing Denise Miller sits down with Senior Vice President of Business Development and Growth Strategy John McGeary and Exposition Sales Manager Rob Pallace to discuss the Start-Up Zone, which features the freshest and most groundbreaking start-up businesses within the residential construction industry.
