The Innovative Housing Showcase — demonstrating the latest in building technologies and processes, featuring full-sized homes, products and more — will take place this weekend, June 9-11, on the National Mall.

Innovations that drive affordability are top of mind for today’s consumers. A record number of more than 50 exhibitors — including NAHB members Connect Homes, ReMo Homes and the Structural Building Components Association — will highlight various innovative solutions to help address the housing affordability crisis and expand home builders’ abilities to produce safe, efficient homes for the U.S. housing market.

“The National Association of Home Builders is honored to once again be hosting this incredible event with the Department of Housing and Urban Development,” stated NAHB Chairman Alicia Huey. “In an industry that is often seen as slow to innovate, this is a key opportunity to show that home builders are an active part of the solution to the housing affordability crisis. We are pleased to highlight so many companies that are leaders in their field … and have some pretty cool things to showcase.”

The opening day will kick off at 9 a.m. with remarks from HUD Secretary Fudge and other notable guests. The event is open to the public and free to attend.

In conjunction with the Innovative Housing Showcase, HUD will also be hosting an offsite construction summit from 12-5 p.m. on Friday, June 9. The first panel focuses on off-site construction challenges and opportunities and will feature NAHB members representing Champion Homes, Impresa Modular and Volumetric Building Companies. The summit, including this panel, is available via livestream.

New and Existing Homes Remain Largely Unaffordable in Second Quarter

While new homes remain largely unaffordable, builder efforts to improve housing affordability paid dividends in the second quarter of 2025, according to the latest data from the NAHB/Wells Fargo Cost of Housing Index (CHI). The CHI results from the second quarter of 2025 show that a family earning the nation’s median income of $104,200 needed 36% of its income to cover the mortgage payment on a median-priced new home. Low-income families, defined as those earning only 50% of median income, would have to spend 71% of their earnings to pay for the same new home.
