Offsite construction offers alternatives to traditional construction methods, and has gained more exposure in the wake of the rising material costs as opportunities to explore new building materials and methods.

"Whether it's manufacturing with precision-cut lumber alternatives more efficiently in a factory setting or lumber alternatives like structural insulated panels [SIPs], prefabricated concrete walls or log home packages, systems-built construction can help home builders mitigate supply shortages," stated Brian J. Sielaff, P.E., P.Eng, 2021 Building Systems Councils chairman and CEO of Tamarack Grove Engineering, a structural engineering firm in Bosie, Idaho.

Offsite Construction Week provides builders with an opportunity to learn more about the offsite construction industry, including the various types of building systems available, and how they can be utilized for different projects.

Treasury Yield Increase Drives Mortgage Rates Higher in May

Mortgage rates continued their upward trend in May due to market volatility triggered by fiscal concerns and weaker U.S. Treasury demand. According to Freddie Mac, the average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rose to 6.82% — a 9-basis-point (bps) increase from April. The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage increased by 5 bps to 5.95%.
