Black Lives Matter
The National Association of Home Builders supports Black Lives Matter and stands in solidarity with black communities across the nation in opposing racial injustice and violence. For more than 75 years, NAHB has fought and continues to fight to ensure that black and other marginalized groups have equitable access to the American dream of homeownership. This means removing discriminatory barriers that people of color often face, so that they can access low-cost mortgages and purchase a home without discrimination. This is especially important given that African-Americans are less likely to own their own homes when compared to whites. Homeownership provides upward mobility and financial security for individual households. This is why NAHB has and always will fight for equal housing opportunity. NAHB also believes that our neighborhoods and communities must be safe for everyone. Lives senselessly lost to racism can never be replaced nor can the memories of centuries of institutional inequity be erased. It will take a sustained and deliberate effort to repair the imbalances that exist in our country and to make our communities truly safe for everyone. NAHB believes in and is committed to this effort.
