Transitional Board of Directors Overview
During the 2018 NAHB International Builders’ Show (IBS) Board of Directors meeting, the board voted to streamline the governance structure of the Association. The changes are to be implemented in stages with full implementation in place for the 2020 Leadership Year, which begins immediately following the 2020 IBS. Learn more about NAHB’s new governance structure.
As part of the transition to the new governance structure, the former Executive Board serves as the Transitional Board of Directors for the 2019 Leadership Term. This board will focus exclusively on the business and administrative requirements of the Association. In the 2020 Leadership Year, the Transitional Board will transition to the new Board of Directors.
It is expected that all directors will attend all of the transitional board meetings, including:
- Virtual Spring Transitional Board Meeting, April 10
- Spring Leadership Meeting, June 8, Washington, D.C.
- Fall Transitional Board Meeting, Sept. 11, Washington, D.C.
- Fall Leadership Meeting, Oct. 24, New Orleans
- Annual meeting, Feb. 11, 2021, International Builders' Show, Las Vegas
To assist directors in meeting this commitment, virtual participation opportunities will be made available for the Transitional Board at each of these sessions.
An emergency — such as a sudden illness or a death in the family — may prevent a director from fulfilling his or her responsibility. In those cases, the director must apply for an excused absence from the NAHB Third Vice Chair, to whom the NAHB Bylaws give approval responsibility. To be considered, the application must be submitted within 30 days after the meeting.
