NAHB Launches Member-to-Member Mentoring Program
Knowledge is one of the most valuable assets for any business owner. And much of it can only be attained through real-world experience and collaboration.
That's why NAHB recently established the Mentor Match program to further support members' professional development needs. Mentor Match is a free, online resource exclusively for NAHB members to establish mentoring relationships.
"We're hearing from a lot of the younger members that they would really appreciate the ability to build strong relationships with more experienced members who could help guide them periodically as they work to establish their business," said Rob Criner, owner of Criner Remodeling in Newport News, Va., and a participant of the Mentor Match program.
Mentor Match is a wonderful tool that easily enables that connection with a seasoned industry veteran who can offer valuable business advice and insights whenever the mentee needs it most," Criner added.
Mentor Match allows registered mentees to search within a growing directory of registered mentors to find individuals whose experience and expertise match areas in which they wish to be mentored. Likewise, mentors can search for and identify potential mentees.
The amount of time mentoring and frequency of communication will vary based on the needs and availability of the participants. Mentors and mentees of the Mentor Match program are able to set their own schedules for times that are mutually convenient. Even brief phone calls or email exchanges can make a big impact for the mentee.
