By a vote of 84-15, the Senate today approved the confirmation of Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo as the next U.S. commerce secretary.
Following the vote, NAHB Chairman Chuck Fowke lauded the Senate action.
"NAHB congratulates Gina Raimondo on her Senate confirmation as commerce secretary," said Fowke. "She is a thoughtful leader who has launched successful workforce housing initiatives to train workers for jobs in the construction trade. Secretary Raimondo knows that housing and the small business community are vital cogs in ensuring a strong, vibrant economy. Her dynamic leadership will serve the nation well as she takes on the job to expand American business interests at home and across the globe."
