Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need to be an NAHB member to participate in this program?

Yes. If you have an innovative product or service that you want to be featured, you need to be a member of the NAHB’s Leading Suppliers Council. If you are an innovative building professional who wants to be featured using a new product, you need to be an NAHB member.

Who is editing the video and is the supplier welcome to attend the session?

NAHB Studios’ team of editors, animators and producers work on the edit in collaboration with the supplier as spelled out in the project timeline.

Can the supplier provide their own video?

Yes, as long as it’s high enough resolution and of professional quality. NAHB Studios reserves the right not to use low quality video. NAHB Studios will edit any supplier provided video to be consistent with other videos and will include disclaimers at the beginning and end of each video.

Do you need to use video, or will still photos work?

Video is preferred but still photos can be used if that’s all that exists and video is impossible to capture. NAHB Studios can incorporate professional still images with animation and other creative techniques to make stills interesting and seamless.

Will the supplier have access to all of the video shot (interviews and “B” Roll), with rights to use it?

Upon request, the supplier will be provided access to the b-roll footage and license to use the footage. Suppliers will not have license to use the interviews acquired during production except as presented in the final program. NAHB Studios is available to assist suppliers with additional editing. NAHB Studios retains all rights to the video footage and final programs.

Can we use the video on our own websites and in social media?

Yes. Suppliers are requested to include a link to the “You Need This” program website or embed the “You Need This” video from the website in their own marketing efforts.
