More about Richard Koffler
Dr. Richard Koffler is a board certified Physiatrist, (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation), a medical specialty primarily addressing the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of musculoskeletal system complaints, injuries as well as disorders of the peripheral nervous system. After graduating from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University in 1993, Dr. Koffler completed a one year internship in Internal Medicine at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, followed by a 3 year residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Rusk Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the NYU Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Koffler’s focus has been on practicing by integrating western medicine, as well as Eastern, Alternative and complementary approaches to both musculoskeletal injuries/diseases, peripheral neurological related issues, as well as pain management.
Dr. Koffler felt constrained with the typical traditional limited western medicine algorithm approach model of medicine and was drawn to evaluating other forms of medicine; Homeopathy, Ayurvedic, Chinese, among others. He received training in acupuncture by the Helms course thru UCLA. More recently, for the last five years, Dr. Koffler has been studying the historical therapeutic use and biochemistry of Marijuana. Dr. Koffler stays abreast of the advancement of marijuana as a medicine and is at the forefront of new treatments around the world. He believes Medical Marijuana has a much more acceptable side effect profile and is less deadly than most, if not all modern pharmaceuticals. He has become a proponent of the appropriate application of Medical Marijuana. Dr. Koffler is a licensed physician in Florida, New York, and Connecticut.
