Delayed Silica Rule

OHSA’s proposed rule on the release of silica particles at construction sites requires builders to use ineffective and cost-prohibitive techniques to reduce exposure. NAHB successfully persuaded Congress to delay the rule’s implementation until at least June 23. Even just a half-year delay saves members an estimated $1,500 per housing start in 2017.
